Can a person save special characters from multiple fonts?

Is there a way to save my commonly used special characters from various fonts so that I need draw up only one screen—this being opposed to constantly changing fonts and scrolling down and up to find the special character desired? I’d rather not use shortcut keys. Thank you.

There does not exist a “memory”. (1) You can record inserting the character as macro. Then you make your own toolbar with buttons to call the macro. (2) You make a small (DIN A7 without margins) document, were you collect all such characters. Keep it open and copy&paste the character from there.

Hello Eileen, you could do this using AutoText:

1) type your special character in your preferred Font, Style, Color, etc.
2) select your special character so that it becomes highlighted.
3) choose the menu "Tools : AutoText..." ( CTRL+F3 )
4) click on the item called "My AutoText",
5) type a suitable name in the Name box, for example "Special Char 1",
6) and type a handy abbreviation in the Shortcut box, for example "SC1",
7) click on the button "AutoText" and choose the menu item "New".
8) click on the Close button.

Now whenever you type “SC1” followed by , it automatically changes into your special character with your preferred Font.

To invoke your special character without typing the Shortcut, just open again the AutoText dialog, select your AutoText, and press the “Insert” button.

Thank you for the help. The Lord willing, the information you shared will save time.

This feature has been implemented at the 6.0.0 release. Adding a glyph to the Special Characters dialog “Favorites” list will make that glyph/font pairing available for insertion without having to change fonts.
