Problem with impress 3.5 and pptx slides

I am running LibreOffice 3.5 on ubuntu 11.10.

When I open an pptx file it works fine and I can edit the slides.

When I save and later reopen the pptx-document in LibreOffice certain Images disappear.
Also other dataloss problems happen, especially with bullet points.

Any pointers for a workaround?

Please re-phrase this as a a question. I’ve downvoted this until the title is fixed. Thank you and sorry for the inconvenience.

You should work in ODP and only save in MS format if/when sending to someone who doesn’t have an ODF compatible suite.

Usually saving as older MS formats is safer (PPT instead of PPTX) since it has been around for a longer time (and MS XML formats have changed between 2007 and 2010 although the extension is the same)

I am using Windows XP and Libre Office to open pptx file and it dose look different as the original, in MS Office.

Yes, that is expected. LibreOffice tries the best to import MS files accurately but since the MS file formats are not completely open (only when MS decides to reveal changes) and that a PPTX from Office 2007 is different from Office 2010, it is a difficult task :frowning:

Hi @mrsteve,

The developers of LO take data loss seriously. If you can help provide some examples of what’s going wrong here, we can endeavor to fix it.

Please file a bug about this problem, and include an example file. Ideally, provide before/after screenshots, showing what’s going missing with images, and what’s changed about the bullet points. The QA team will be happy to help you track down this issue!

When you do file a bug, please post a link to it in a comment below using the format “fdo#123456”.

Thanks!
