How do I set the background of jpeg’s to transparent like I used to do in Microsoft excel and word?

@morris82 – I’m not sure if one can knock-out the background color of an image using LibreOffice directly, however there are many FLOSS tools that can be used to perform this operation, for example the GIMP: http://www.gimp.org
