can't open libre office in windows 10 creators update

I had to roll back the win10 Creators Update because LO wouldn’t open. I saw a few other post from folks but no answers. Any others out there with this problem still or know a fix?

There are a lot of similar reports (as you mentioned); it would be good if someone opened a bug report at Bugzilla, and describe in detail what happens, and which messages do you see. Without this information, it’s difficult to do anything. E.g., I have Creators update, and my 5.3.3.2 works fine.

When I run the MS troubleshooter it detects a problem and displays this message “soffice is incompatible.”

I’m getting a popup window telling me that “MSVCP140.dll is either not designed to on Windows or it contains an error…”
The file in \Windows\System32 does not have a version # under details.
Copying the most current version to that folder does not correct the problem but changes the popup to say
“The application was unable to start correctly”
Uninstalling and re-installing Libre Office (version 5.4.3) corrected the poblem
Thanks Microsoft!

I sent crash reports and created a “bug” report. to date, you guys are all I have to go on. I get “Fatal Error”. I will try reinstalling it and try Microsoft Trouble shooter. Wish me luck. update soon.

Please also mention the bug #, not only declare something like “I sent … created …”.

I’ve been using LibreOffice on a Windows 10 machine for a month or so. I was using it an hour ago. Suddenly it won’t open. Nothing at all happens. If I check the task manager, it seems to display a listing for it, running, for each time I try to open it – but it doesn’t open. Once, after I deleted all the LibreOffice entries, it actually did run – opening a number of windows in succession – but since then, nothing. This is catastrophic. And flat unacceptable. I’ve been reading help lists for an hour, seen the problem reported a number of times, and no solutions offered. (People report restarting, reinstalling, etc., and failing).

Which LO version? I believe it’s fixed for 6.0. And that it was not fixed for long is only because nobody from those who talked about it didn’t provide steps to reproduce. As soon as a reproducer was found, it was fixed in just a few days.

If your case is different, then please find a way to report about it in a form that helps to fix, instead of ranting.

Sorry if that sounded like a rant: I do think it’s amazing that so many people have reported similar issues but I saw no reports of much that worked. I have the current version of LO, and Windows just updated itself – but LO worked fine for at least a day after that. I rebooted the computer and LO ran after that, but I’m still worried that if this is going to be a pattern I’ll have to look for another word processor (and I’ve used LO since it was OpenOffice).

again: what is “current version of LO”?
