By the way, you can also change the underlining color and use a lighter one.

2017-03-06 14:01:40 +0200 commented question Change underline lines width

You can change the underlining style using several predefined options. Format > Character > Font Effects > Underlining

I don't know if you can create a new underlining style.

2017-02-08 16:59:15 +0200 answered a question How can I cause an illustration to be repeated?

In a not very elegant way, you can create a paragraph style where you store the picture as the paragraph's background. Then apply the style to some empty lines until the whole picture shows. You can tweak the picture's size when you insert it into the style.

2016-12-15 11:43:57 +0200 answered a question Calc export to CSV with CRLF line breaks

You can change the field and text delimiters used when exporting to CSV, if in the Save as... window you check the Edit filter settings checkbox when you select Text CSV (*.csv) in the file type combobox.

When you press Save button, a new window will appear to set the exact delimiters you want to use.

I don't know if changing those settings will help with the line endings.

2016-12-12 19:10:12 +0200 commented answer How to setup a freeform trajectory in impress ?

I upgraded my system to Fedora 25 and LO 5.2.3.3. Now I don't have the same dialog as in LO 5.1, and there is no "User paths" section in my animation pane. Sorry.

2016-12-09 17:48:36 +0200 answered a question How to setup a freeform trajectory in impress ?

I do see a Freeform Line option in the Custom animation sidebar. See attached image. LibreOffice Impress 5.1 on Fedora 24 (don't know about LO 5.2 on WIndows).

I can draw a freeform line so the picture follows its path.

2016-12-09 17:20:28 +0200 answered a question Page numbering several files as if they were one document

For a)

  • Insert the page number.
  • Double clik on the page number. "Edit Fields" window pops up.
  • Change the Offset value (down right in the window).

For b)

Calc inserts page numbers automatically, see File > Print Preview. If you want to change the printing style (for instance, remove the default "Page" part of the page number):

  • Go to Styles and Formatting sidebar
  • Click on the Page Styles icon
  • Right click on Default page style then Modify...
  • Go to Footer tab and click the Edit... button
  • Finally modify what you see in the footer

In that same place, you can also modify the header, the sheet order when you print, etc.

2016-11-28 14:11:13 +0200 answered a question Is the odt format inferior to docx?

I don't know if there is such a better comparison.

Anyway, in your link I see a mixture of:

  • DOCX vs ODT feature comparison;
  • when you work on DOCX & MS Office, how the features will convert to ODT;
  • Word vs Writer comparison;
  • and some outdated (or incorrect) facts.

My feeling is that the comparison was made with MS Office in mind (not made from the LO point of view), so maybe it is not too useful, depending on what app you are using.

Examples:

  • Content / Table of Figures (TOF) / Not Supported -> That fact is false, even OpenOffice could create "Illustration Indexes" on ODT
  • File Operations / Fixed File Format / Supported (Can save to .pdf and .xps file types) -> That is about Word vs Writer, not about DOCX vs ODT
  • Collaboration / Track Changes / Not Supported (When you save the Word 2007 document in .odt format, all changes are accepted) -> Not true, see for instance this thread.
  • Content / Frames / Partially Supported (When you save the Word 2007 document in .odt format...) -> Well, that is about using Word 2007, not about what ODT can support.
  • Formatting / Watermark / Not Supported -> See this blog post from 2007.

And so on...

2016-11-25 13:36:20 +0200 answered a question Alignment issues in libreoffice draw in some PDFs

You should check if the font used by your PDF is installed in your system. Otherwise, LO Draw replaces it with another font, and that causes alignment problems.

2016-11-21 18:23:58 +0200 answered a question Copy + Paste formatting lost

Maybe you are trying to insert your formatted text in a place where you already have another format applied.

Try this: put the cursor in the exact place in the target Writer document where you want to insert your formatted text, and in the Formatting toolbar, open the Styles dropdown box and select Clear formatting. Afterwards, paste the formatted text in that exact place.

However, your workflow isn't exactly the best way to format contents in Writer. You should create Styles and save them in a Template (or easier, in a regular empty ODT file).

2016-11-19 12:21:58 +0200 answered a question My menu's check marks are invisible until hovered over?

May be related to your desktop theme. LibreOffice menus appearance is controlled by the underlying desktop theme.

If you are using GNOME, you can try to change its theme with GnomeTweakTool.

2016-11-15 19:45:58 +0200 answered a question Font corruption on a document

I see you are using Default Style paragraph style on the left and First paragraph on the right.

Try modifying First paragraph right clicking on it in the Styles and Formatting sidebar and selecting Modify... Look into Position tab and modify Pair kerning, look if it makes any difference.

2016-11-15 19:10:32 +0200 commented answer How to modify bullet style in Impress ?

Second solution posted by pierre-yves samyn works for me in Impress.

2016-11-15 18:59:25 +0200 answered a question How to modify bullet style in Impress ?

After you define your bullet style as in the previous answer, you may use layouts to create new slides (e.g. Slides > Slide Layout > Title, 2 Content, or using the Properties sidebar), and create bullets using the outlines in the layout. You can copy&paste outlines to create more. Afterwards, if you modify the bullet style, the changes will spread to all the slides using those outlines.

2016-11-13 10:39:02 +0200 commented answer How to modify bullet style in Impress ?

I noticed you have to put the cursor on the right side of the bullet text, just after "format" or "Level". If you put the cursor on one word of the bulleted text, you don't have the contextual "Bullets and Numbering..." option.

Tested in LibreOffice 5.5. Fedora 24.

2016-11-10 17:49:28 +0200 commented question How to copy email text to a document

From which email app to which LO document type? What platform (Windows, GNU/Linux...)? Is it not enough to use Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V?

2016-11-10 17:43:58 +0200 answered a question Can Impress just take MPG2 video, or some other formats?

It depends on what platform you have LibreOffice installed (Windows, GNU/Linux...) and what codecs you have installed.

You can see the formats supported by your Impress going to Insert > Audio or Video... and opening the File type: dropdown box.

Take into account that those formats (e.g. MP4) are only containers, you must have installed also the codecs used in the audio & video streams within the container.

2016-11-10 15:45:54 +0200 answered a question Import matrx of data and treat more than one seperator as one

LibreOffice 5.1 Calc answer.

Supposing you are importing a .txt file with a variable number of spaces between numbers (sometimes just 1, other times 2, 3, 4...)

Use File > Open... to open the txt.

In the import dialog, under Separator Options, select Separated by, uncheck all the separators except Space.

Check Merge delimiters.
