2015-04-27 08:07:18 +0200 answered a question how do I make letters taller?

(libreoffice writer)

Menu: Format -> Character.

(Tab) Position -> (rotation/scaling) scale width [50%]

Then increase font size.

2015-04-27 07:04:02 +0200 asked a question Writer - Usability Problems
  • When the user toggles underline or bold, the trailing space is also styled.
    • I expect the trailing space to be excluded.
  • The highlight button always enables highlight.
    • I expect the highlight button to toggle between chosen highlight color and no highlight.
    • If it's currently a different color, then highlight to chosen color.
  • When I view undo history, bolding/unbolding/highlighting/etc. all show up as "Apply Attributes" with no way to differentiate them.
  • There is no button to view or choose current text columns.
  • There is also no button/way to view current style. (???)

2015-04-27 06:49:10 +0200 commented answer Writer - Is there a "default" page style?

No, the default template is automatically applied to newly created documents. You seem to misunderstand my question. You didn't tell me whether document styles inherit from the Default Style within the same document. Looking at the other answer, there's no inheritance, which is unfortunate.

2015-03-04 07:08:36 +0200 asked a question Writer - Is there a "default" page style?

Libreoffice Writer has many page styles which must be individually modified. (F11, click page icon)

  • Default Style
  • First, Left, Right Page
  • Envelope
  • Index
  • HTML ...

Do the page styles inherit properties from a parent page style?

2015-03-02 06:21:51 +0200 commented answer Writer: Change default margins

That doesn't auto adjust the many page styles in the single style. Where are page substyles sourced from?

2015-02-25 08:03:53 +0200 asked a question Writer: Change default margins

I'm using Libreoffice Writer. Is it possible to make 1-inch margins the global default?

Is there a global default used for new styles? When I change the Default Style (F11, Page category) and manually apply other styles, they still have 2cm-borders. Same when I make the first page title page, it switches to default 2cm border.

2013-03-27 02:31:06 +0200 asked a question Changing Ruler to Standard 1/8 Increments of Inches

Is it possible to make the ruler use parts of 8 when using inches? It is standard with MsWord etc and is useful when making half-indents, for example. This is impossible with the default-for-Libreoffice parts-of-10 ruler.

I understand it may take a bit of code to get the unit handling right, but this is such an important, almost default feature for any word processor. Is it possible to implement a timesaving, convenient industry standard tweak?
