In many websites, I find moderation a very useful and effective way to keep spam away. The delay it causes usually is negligible in favor of its benefits. But the situation in this site is very different. The voting mechanism is already a moderation system moderated by its users. It should encourage good questions and answers and discourage bad ones. Unfortunately, the additional layer of moderation being used now is wasting the time of everyone, the new user who is looking forward to getting a quick answer, the moderator and the volunteer who would like to help. According to my experience, the waiting time for a post to be moderated and accepted is 4 or 5 days. Therefore, a simple question with a few comments could take as long as one month before getting an answer which is enough to disappoint anyone and cause him to leave. I don't know how many moderators there are, But certainly they are too few for this community. Please resolve this issue.

Please describe more about your problem. Can you see the font in fonts list? What is happening when you choose the font? Can you use the font in other programs?

LibreOffice doesn't try to connect to Internet on startup, at least in my system (Fedora 21). If you are in doubt, Install nethogs command line tool which allows you to detect any network activity happening from your programs. If you suspect that your distro package is the cause, Try downloading LibreOffice from its main site https://www.libreoffice.org/download .

Open it in MS Word and convert it to an older version of doc format e.g. 2000/XP/2003 or even older. It may make it more compatible with LibreOffice since older versions have less features and they are usually better understood by LibreOffice.

It turns out that re-rendering text is as easy as changing any of the font character attributes. For example, I can change the font name or size and change it back to get the text re-rendered. Since the document may use different fonts and sizes, updating the whole text this way may cause partial formatting loss. My preferred way to circumvent this problem is to use: Ctrl + [ and Ctrl + ] to change the font size one point and change it back.

When you understand how LibreOffice code is organized, You can move to a more complex things like fixing bugs.

The second suggestion also did nothing. Maybe I need to upload a sample, so that anyone can test on his PC.

There is a bug in text rendering engine for Arabic which happens occasionally. if I modify a word by adding a letter or a diacritic (Tashkeel in Arabic) which should affect the shaping of the word, the word doesn't get updated to show the change, instead the new part appear as if it was written apart. I have to erase the word and rewrite in order to fix it. The question is how to force Writer to re-render the whole text in the document to fix such problems?

Unfortunately, This is a bug in libreoffice which causes separated numbers to appear Left To Right even If you are using RTL direction. It appears also in:

• Date: 22/2/2014 The result should be reversed in RTL (2014/2/22)
• Dot separated nubmers (Your problem)
• Dash separated numbers (1-2-3-4)

• Plus separated nubmers (1+2+3+4)

  etc..

Update:

The only workaround I know is to change the separator (Edit - Fields) to a character that doesn't have the bug. If you need to keep the same separator (dot), You can choose another dot from Unicode map such as U+2024 ( ․ ). (Credit to Safa from #LinuxAC who just discoverd this character)

If you have this problem in other cases, You can simply insert a space before or after the separator.

What version are you using?

In Word, I used to use the table drawing tool to modify an existing table using mouse. It was useful especially when I want to split a cell with a text inside. While there is a split command in tables - split cells, The drawing tool has the advantage to choose where to split the cell so that I split the text as I draw through the text. Is there such a similar way to split cells by dragging in Libreoffice Writer?
