Hello,

If your text "Find What is the size?=Small" is in cell A1,

try the following function :

=RIGHT(A1;LEN(A1)-LEN("Find What is the size?=")-FIND("Find What is the size?=";A1)+1)

2016-08-03 12:14:26 +0200 asked a question Is there a way to automatically normalize tables in calc ?

Hello,

In calc I want to "normalize" a table.

Here is an example: I have a table with registrant who enrolls from 1 to up to 4 participants (enrollees). It is not "normalized", because there is e repeating column (Name Enrollee).

I want to have it normalized, such as below (cells are "transposed"):

It can of course be done manually with "copy/paste transpose".

But is there a programmatic way (function, macro) to do this ?

Oh yes ! I overlooked this possibility. I just tested it and it works greatly. Thanks for your quick and efficient support.

2016-05-19 10:55:12 +0200 asked a question In Mail Merge, how can I conditionally select the records to be processed?

I am using mail merge in LibreOffice, with a form letter in Writer and a "database" in Calc.

When printing the form letter, the only options I get are : printing all, printing a manually selected list, or printing a range based on record number.

I want to conditionally select the records of the spreadsheet to be processed in the mail merge, based on specific values of a column in the spreadsheet. How can I do this ?

After some research, I did found the cause of this problem. I accessed the folder containing my database through an UNC path. Changing the acces through the normal path c:.... and everything works fine now.

2014-01-29 17:53:13 +0200 asked a question Split_HSQLDB_Wizard_v3c error message

Hello,

I am new to LibreOffice Base, and I developped my first database and application with the default embedded HSQLDB. I am running Windows 8.1 and LibreOffice 4.1.4.2. and this works fine.

Having read the recommendation to use the "Split database" architecture in order to avoid data corruptions, I am now trying to setup Base/HSQLDB with a single-user (file-mode) split db configuration, as described in https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=83&t=61183 .

When I open the Split_HSQLDB_Wizard_v3c database (step 5), after enabling macro's, I immediately get an error message popup : Setp: macro code error Error 1: An exception occurred Type: com.sun.star.ucb.InteractiveAugmentedIOException Message: the name contained invalid characters. (line : 17)

Any idea ?

Yes, this works great ! With "Run SQL command directly", thet SELECT statement works correctly. Thanks for your support.

2014-01-22 10:57:55 +0200 asked a question boolean expression in a query : is this a bug ?

I am using LibreOffice Base (Version: 4.1.4.2 under Windows 8.1). I create a simple table with 2 boolean columns : CREATE CACHED TABLE "Table-Test-Booleans"("ID" INTEGER GENERATED BY DEFAULT AS IDENTITY(START WITH 0) NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY,"BOOLEAN1" BOOLEAN,"BOOLEAN2" BOOLEAN)

The following SELECT statement works correcty from the SQL tool, and also for the creation of a view, but not as the definition of a query (giving SQL Status: HY000, Error code: 1000, syntax error, unexpected $end, expecting BETWEEN or IN or SQL_TOKEN_LIKE:)

SELECT "ID" AS "ID" , "BOOLEAN1" AS "BOOLEAN1" , "BOOLEAN2" AS "BOOLEAN2" , ( "BOOLEAN1" OR "BOOLEAN2" ) AS "BOOLEAN1OR2" FROM "Table-Test-Booleans"

Is this a bug or do I overlook something ?
