How to define space between numbering item and word

Hi there;

I presume that my question is a starter question. I want to diminish the blank between numbering item and the start letter of a line, as seen below. (the width of the green rectangle)

I have manipulated the value of the blue and red line, but no help. How can I diminish this? Thanks in advance.

Hej Tahasozgen,

Without going into grapic design details, here is how it works.

Settings influence a whole paragraph, so from one hard return to the next.
The triangle in red defines the front of the text column, the triangle in blue defines the indent/outdent of the first line only.
The most easy solution is to set the paragraph left to 1em indent, and the first line to have a 1em outdent.
Type the numeral (or auto numeral code) press the [tab]-button, start your text.
Here you can either play with the triangles of a selected text to get a pleasing effect.
You can also set a tabulator stop (left, right or other) to influence the distance between numeral and text also yu can use right tabulator stops to alight numerals to the right.

when you have the wanted effect you can incorporate these settings in a paragraph ‘style’ for repeated use in your document(s). You can do that by using the ‘update style’ function, or to edit the/a style manually.

The indent and spacing settings are in the Position tab of the properties dialog of list and chapter numbering. The normal paragraph indent settings are disabled, if the paragraph has got a numbering.

For chapter numbering use Tools>Chapter numbering. If working with list styles use right-click on the style in the Style&Formatting pane > Modify. In other cases use Format>Bullets and Numbering.

In case you need help with the items in the Position dialog tab, feel free to ask again.

The Numbered List spacing is in the List Styles.

I can see in your image that it is a numbered list.
Here is a default numbered list:

Open the list styles and modify Numbering 123.
View this image full size to see that the space is now smaller.

On the Position tab I modified the Tab stop at: value to change the spacing.
The easiest way is to just change the Number followed by: to Space
This is just like a list you would type manually by adding a space after the number.
