LibreOffice pretends to save over and over again

I have LibreOffice 4.2.4.2 installed on my Windows 8.1 laptop. In Writer (as far as I know, could imply to all of LibreOffice), I write a document. About five or so minutes into writing it, LibreOffice says “Saving” at the bottom with a green bar and after it “pretends” to save (it says it’s saving, but it doesn’t), it pretends to save again. Over and over again. Then I can’t edit my document, and it does that over and over again without stopping so I can’t edit my document at all. Is there something wrong with my settings or is this a bug?

I just changed the settings in LibreOffice. I had it set so objects would be removed from memory after 10 minutes, and I turned it off and I think that fixed it. That means it was probably a bug. Well, I’m good now.

This is a bug. Even with autosave is activated it should prompt you to give a name for the file.

But there is a way to save your document when LibreOffice attempts to autosave over and over again.

Usually the menus are difficult to access with the mouse but when the keyboard shortcuts work. Press Ctrl-Shift-S to save as a new document. Alternatively press Alt-F to open the file menu and move down to Save as...

Then save the file somewhere and continue working.
