why has libreoffice update changed spreadsheets to pdfs?

I have had a LibreOffice update this afternoon.
All my spreadsheets have now been converted to pdf’s which won’t open.
Any help would be appreciated,
Thank you
David

Thank you for your helpful replies.
The latest version v 6.2 does show my old files.
A big thank you to gtomorrow which has solved the problem.
I went to ‘Save As’ then selected from the pulldown menu ’ Office Open XLM Spreadsheet (*.xlsx)
A massive THANK YOU from me.
I was contemplating system restore, but now that won’t now be necessary.
Best wishes
David

What makes you assume that your .ods files have been converted to .pdf files? (btw. using LibreOffice since many years and all latest releases and never ever an upgrade of LibreOffice performed any file conversion - and I’m pretty sure this didn’t happen this time too)

And I have had sounds a bit passive in the sense that it suggest it doesn’t happened on your own activity but some automatism. Please explain (Please edit your question to add information)

Rule No. 1: DON’T PANIC!

First, make sure the file extension is still .ods – I’m pretty sure you’ll find that it is. I’ve never heard of an update converting files from one format to another.

Then, instead of double-clicking the file in your file manager (Explorer? Finder? Nautilus?) try right-clicking on the file and “Open With…” LibreOffice.

If it opens in Calc (we’re talking spreadsheets, correct?) then you’re golden. Just go back to your file manager and select the option to make LibreOffice always open that file type (most likely “properties” or “Get Info”).

Was I clear? Good luck!
