OpenOffice customizations propagated to LibreOffice?

Is there a painless method to propagate customizations from OpenOffice? I’d really like to try (and switch to) LibreOffice, but really don’t want to manually replicate configured defaults, custom colors, writer formats, etc. The biggest hurdle is writer formats. They are embedded in documents and templates, so would they just work when opened in LibreOffice and then be importable into new documents? I doubt it matters, but platforms are OS X and Linux. Thanks.

The document templates are no problem - you can just import them (Files|Templates → Organize, choose category/folder, use Import from the Command button).

Alternatively you can copy them to some directory and add that directory to the template searchpath using Tools|Options → LibreOffice → Paths.

While not really recommended, copying over the OOo profile directory (to ~/.config/libreoffice/3 on linux for 3.5.0) and to ~/Library/Application Support/LibreOffice/3 on Mac) might also work for preserving other settings. But once again: No guarantee, and might actually cause problems. But if you run into trouble, you can always remove the profile directory and start over…

Thanks for the reply. I think I’ll go ahead and install LibreOffice and see what I can figure out. If there are no other ideas, and I can’t figure out anything better on my own, I’ll try this brute force method. I appreciate the input.

FYI I tried to up vote your answer but I guess I don’t have enough karma. I do appreciate it though.
