Hello, I just downloaded and installed the Writer extension LibreGrammar 5.1 on an iBook Pro running Catalina 10.15.7 for use with LibreOffice 7.0.4.2. Also downloaded and installed Java runtime environment 13.0.2.

LibreGrammar fails, and this error message is displayed:

An error has occurred in LanguageTool 5.1 (2020-09-26 13:37)

If anyone has an idea about the cause of the problem, and a suggested solution, please do respond. Thank you.

Mac OS: 10.15.1 (Catalina) LO: Version: 6.3.2.2 Build ID: 98b30e735bda24bc04ab42594c85f7fd8be07b9c CPU threads: 4; OS: Mac OS X 10.15.1; UI render: default; VCL: osx; Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI-Language: en-US

Screenshot of dialog box: Calc: threadedC:\fakepath\Screen Shot 2019-11-21 at 10.39.25 AM.png

After recently installing 1. MAC OS 10.15.1 (Catalina) and 2. LO 6.3.2.2, the LO open / save file dialog box changed to the one depicted in the attached screen shot. This box appears when using Calc, Draw, and Writer. I have not used Impress.

This particular dialog box is entirely new to me. It is most difficult to navigate. Further, it does not mirror or replicate the MAC OS file structure LO has here-to-fore displayed when performing file open / save tasks.

The question I have is this: Does the screen shot faithfully produce a (new) LO file open / save dialog box or is it possible that I have downloaded an unwanted extension or utility that is replacing the proper LO function? The advice I seek is two-fold. 1. If this dialog box is a new LO standard, does documentation exist that explains how to use it? 2. If this replacement is not native to LO, is it possible to de-activate it and return to the existing LO standard? How shall I accomplish this? Thank you.

2019-07-12 10:38:31 +0100 označen je najbolji odgovor Does LibreOffice have a convert from pdf to .csv or .ods function?

I often download data in .pdf files that must be converted to .csv or .ods formats for subsequent analysis. Does LibreOffice have a native function or existing utility (would this be called an extension?) that performs such a function? I am aware of and have used multiple online pdf -> csv converters, the plethora of which attest to the need, so this function built into LibreOffice would be welcomed by many, I suspect.

Thank you.

When using the Find function in Writer to search for something, the results are highlighted. The highlight color is a pale, almost translucent green (that's the color I see). This color is difficult to see, particularly when the highlighted result is swimming in a sea of words on a page.

The question: Is it possible to change the color with which Find highlights found items?

Note: I am asking about the color the Find function uses to highlight a result. I am not asking about changing the highlight color that users choose and apply directly to selected text.

LibreOffice: Version: 6.1.2.1 Build ID: 65905a128db06ba48db947242809d14d3f9a93fe CPU threads: 4; OS: Mac OS X 10.14.5; UI render: default; Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); Calc: group threaded

I have occasion to prepare a chart that has the following qualities: 1. It is a column and line chart. 2. Each column represents one variable. 3. Each column is partitioned into sections. 4. Sections represent one measurement for one category variable. 5. Sections are stacked in the same order. 6. A line connects one section in one column to the corresponding section in the next column. 7. The line represents the end value of one category measurement and the begin value of the succeeding category. 8. Lines do not cross; they follow the section pattern the stacking order dictates.

Describing this need using 1,000 words is no match for one picture, so one is attached. Connecting lines are drawn in, not embedded. Lines are grouped; they retain relative position to one another when the grouped unit is moved. However, and this is the problem, when the chart is moved or zoomed in / out, the line group does not move or zoom. How would a user go about making the position of the line unit relative to the chart stable? Is embedding the line unit as an OLE object in the chart possible, in lieu of a native capacity to create such charts?

LO Chart documentation is silent regarding this topic. Neither does such appear among questions in this forum.

Thank you for considering this issue.

Because my original question seems to have been unclear to experienced users, I am once again asking it, but with revisions rendering it more clear. Thank you to the people who responded the first time.

Context: 1. I have a Writer document; 2. I have a Calc document (spreadsheet); 3. Within the Calc document is a chart; 4. The chart is created from data in that same spreadsheet.

Desired outcome: 1. Insert into the Writer document the chart in the Calc document; 2. The inserted chart is to possess two qualities: a. It is to be linked to the Calc document; b. Updates made in the Calc document appear also in the Writer document.

Process outlined in LibreOffice user guides: 1. Perform these steps in Writer: Insert->Object->OLE object->Create from file->Link to file->Search->(select target file)->Open->OK

Discussion: At no step in this process is a Calc chart defined as an entity. At no point is such an entity identified as an OLE candidate to be inserted, linked, and possessed of the quality of updatablility in a Writer document. The Writer Insert ->...->...->...-> OK process selects a file. At no point in the Writer Insert process are there instuctions or options allowing selection of an entity (the Calc chart) in the Calc document.

Question: What do I need to do so that the Writer Insert -> link to file -> Search -> OK series of commands results in: 1. A Calc chart in a Writer document that a. Is identifiable from within Writer using the Insert Object...OK command series as an OLE candidate; b. Is selectable using the Writer Insert Object...OK command series; c. Is inked, once inserted in the Writer documenrt, to the source Calc document; and d. Can be updated in Calc so that the updates also appear in Writer.

In other words, how do I insert a defined Calc entity such as a chart into a Writer document as a linked, updatable OLE object?

I hope the question is now clear.

Thanks for your insights and instructions.
