What happened to Tools > Options > LibreOffice > Colors?

I’m running Version: 5.4.3.2 (x64) and noticed that Tools > Options > LibreOffice > Colors is no longer there. It use to be between “Paths” and "Fonts.

I’ve added over 10 custom colors I use as background colors in one of my spreadsheets. Which still show up when I click the paint can. However, can’t find a way to add any more.

I really don’t want to use the provided colors because I need small variations that aren’t available. I suppose I can leave version 5.2.2.2 (x64) I have on a second computer there and use it to modify my color palettes, but, that’s a real pain.

That option was removed in favour of colour palettes. You can still define new colours. The easiest way is the following:

  1. Insert any graphical object on any document, like a square
  2. Go to the object properties → “Area”
  3. Under “Colors” select the “Custom” pallete and define your colour
  4. Press “Add” and give the colour a name.

Now the colour will be available on any component under the “Custom” pallete.

This does work but, it a lot more work than the old way.

@redwdc Indeed! The use of pallets is a great improvement over the previous model for many reasons, but the current implementation is incomplete: it also need a dedicated tool to fill those pallets! Relying on people realizing they need to build a shape in order to define a new colour is not a good idea, IMO. But as you said, it works.
