Mysql/MariaDB Native Driver for Libreoffice 5?

In the about page on the Libreoffice web site for Base it mentions “native-support drivers for some of the most-widely employed multi-user database engines: MySQL/MariaDB” but the only thing I can find is ODBC/JDBC drivers. Some of the databases I am connecting to are quite large and ODBC/JDBC crashes and is VERY slow. I usually write SQL directly using HeidiSQL, but would like to be able to use a gui for others on my team. Is there a native connection directly to MySQL/MariaDB?

Libreoffice 5.0.3.2
OS- Windows 8.1 - Linux Mint 17.3
MariaDB 10.0.11

Does “Windows 8.1 - Linux Mint 17.3” mean you have a dual boot system, or is this all on windows OS? I’m also interested if you got this working and if you will please visit this question: Mysql server has gone away

Yes, there is a native driver for MySQL, which I assume would work for Maria also.

There should be an extension in Base itself. Look under “tools” → “extension manager”. There should be a native MySQL driver there. A kicker, the native MySQL driver that came with a prior LibreOffice release failed. So I substituted another version “MySQL Connector 1.0.4.3” that worked and haven’t changed it since.

If Base does not have an extension for a native MySQL driver, read through this thread: AOO 4.0 new MySQL native driver 1.2.0 version. The last post in that thread is mine concerning additional extensions. This thread is now “dated” since it is over two years old. In fact, I could not re-locate the web-page containing the extension “MySQL Connector 1.0.4.3”.

My hope for you is that the current release of LibreOffice (Version 5.1) came with a native MySQL driver under “tools” → “extension manager”. Good luck.

Did you ever have any luck? Would like to move to Libre from Open but this native mysql is preventing me.
