Calc, saves slow on first save on Linux Mint 18

I’m running LibreOffice 5.1.4.2, build 1.5.1.4-0ubuntu1 on Linux Mint 18. When I load a spreadsheet into ‘calc’ and do a quick save, it takes about a minute or more to execute the save. After that ‘first’ save, I can make any number of changes and ‘save’ which takes the expected 2 or 3 seconds. If I close the spreadsheet and reopen it, its the same scenario, takes for ever to complete that first save. My mint 17.3 installation works as it should.

I have the exact same problem. I’m running the same → Version: 5.1.4.2 Build ID: 1:5.1.4-0ubuntu1 CPU Threads: 4; OS Version: Linux 4.4; UI Render: default; Locale: en-CA (en_CA.UTF-8) on Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS.

Saving the exact same file on Version: 5.1.3.2 on Windows 6.1 works as expected.

The file is only 233 kb, however, it has 13 sheets, 15618 cells, 124 pages and 5146 formula groups. I suspect the complexity is cause the issues.

I thought an upgrade to Version: 5.2.2.2 Build ID: 1:5.2.2-0ubuntu1~xenial0 would have done it but it is the same or worse…

I’m experiencing the same problem (windows 7 and LO 5.3.2.2) and started a new discussion here:

I don’t know if this helps in your situation:

  • open the file
  • immediately click the save button (it will save fast)
  • edit what you want
  • click the save button again (it will still be fast)

Don’t know if it works for you, but it does for me. Of course this shouldn’t be necessary. The file should always save fast.

Please let me know if it worked.
