Change cell height within table without affecting entire row?

Hey guys, I want to set individual cells so that their height can increase (to allow for more characters to be placed within the same cell) independently within a table, without changing the height of the entire row.

To illustrate this question, I have added some files:

C:\fakepath\Independent resizing cells question (EXPLANATION).jpg

C:\fakepath\Independent resizing cells question (ORIGINAL FILE).odt

If this can’t be done, then would someone kindly explain how to make 2 tables exist side-by-side within a Writer document? Because that would solve the issue too.

Cheers.

Hello @appreciatethehelp,

To create a table such as depicted in your EXPLANATION.jpg, you could just select the first 5 cells of your first column (below the Header), and then choose the menu “Table : Merge Cells”. Then do the same for cells 5 to 8 from your second column.

To make 2 tables exist side-by-side, choose the menu “Format : Page...”, then select the tab “Columns”, and enter 2 for the number of Columns.

Insert a table into the first Column, insert a Column Break by choosing the menu “Insert : Manual Break...” and selecting the option “Column Break”, then insert a table into the second Column.

HTH, lib
