Select multiple cells of a table in Writer like in Calc

Im not able to select multiple cells of a table in Writer like in Calc.
In Writer i can only select cells, that are next to eachother, but in Calc I can also select different cells, that are not next to eachother, by pressing the ctrl key and select them with the mouse.
This is really annoying, when you have a table where you want special filling or border options for some cells.

Is there any way to handle the selection of cells better or is this function not implemented in Writer?

PS: Excuse my (maybe not perfect) English!

You English is fine. You’re right, it is difficult to select multiple cells that are not next to each other. What you can do is format one cell with the formatting you want to use in other cells and then use the Format Painter function to paste that formatting into the other cells. So in one cell, format it accordingly, select the formatted cell, click the Format Painter icon on the Standard Toolbar, then click in the cell where you want the formatting to go. The formatting for the new cell will change to that of the original one.

excellent idea  I’ve just learned something useful… thanks too…
