2014-06-21 22:57:57 +0200 질문하였습니다 Font seems to revert to a default

I was asked to see whether I could recover documents stored on a floppy and created with a word processing program on a computer over ten years ago. None of the documents would open in Microsoft Word, but they opened in LibreOffice with all formatting, etc preserved as best I could determine. The documents' creator now uses an iMac so I used TextEdit to open the documents successfully - and again all formatting, etc. seemed to be preserved. Amazing!

Here's the problem I cannot resolve:

  • Open one of the documents, select it completely, change the font from 12 to 14 in courier new.
  • Print the document on a Canon inkjet and the document output is exactly what one would expect.
  • Now, save the document, close it, double click on it to re-open it, choose "print" and the printer produces a document in something like 5 or 6 pt type -all but unreadable.

I have checked settings and cannot find any configuration to revert to a different font. Two experienced Apple users have looked at this and tell me their setups never behave like this.

Does anyone have an idea about what the underlying problem is? (I can print these documents in LibreOffice on my PC without any problem. The documents' owner wants to extensively edit the documents with the aim of producing a book - and work from the iMac.)

Thanks in advance for any assistance.
