2016-06-21 21:03:00 +0200 으뜸 답변으로 표시됨 AskLO: Can we limit the width of img, blockquote, etc.?

Currently the CSS of this site has a few definitions that allow for oversized elements in <div id="ContentLeft"> and <div class="post-body"> to cause <div id="ContentRight"> (the sidebar) to be overwritten. An example of a large image doing this can be found in this question and a blockquote with no-break space (U+00a0) in the text can be found in this question. The result is that the content of the question is difficult to read. This also affects any answers and comments.

Ideally, all content forms (img, blockquote, etc.) should be forced to either wrap within the <div id="ContentLeft"> container, or reduced in size to ensure a more elegant and user-friendly presentation. From what I can tell the issue appears to be either with inadequate div definition (inheritance) or an inadequate definition for the img and blockquote elements in these div's. The <div id="ContentLeft"> is defined as width: 730px. As a short-term hack rather than setting .post-body img { width: 100% } a fixed pixel value could be specified. A better solution would be to specify width: 100% for all sub-containers within the parent container to ensure correct inheritance. There is no limiting definition on the blockquote element (and possibly other content-type elements) thus they are not constrained by the higher-level pixel limit.

2016-06-21 16:59:55 +0200 으뜸 답변으로 표시됨 AskLO: Do others see their activity entries extending beyond the page container?

Want to raise this issue here before reporting a bug as it may be the old version of Firefox (v20.0) I am using on this machine that is causing the issue. When I click on the "activity" link in my profile I see:

activity entry in AskLO profile

The pale green rectangle indicates the limit of the typical page content i.e., <div class="content-wrapper"> and <div id="ContentFull"> which are set to 960px. The <table class="user-activity"> element is set to 100% and within this the three components are set to:

  • <td class="timestamp"> 80px.
  • <td class="action-type"> 150px.
  • <td class="description"> auto.

Given both the primary content containers have a fixed width, I am wondering if the "auto" setting on the description is not the cause (it may as well be a fixed width). In any case it would be good if others could confirm this behaviour under various OSs / browsers so I know it is not something at my end.

@Lupp, I feel it may a request to insert a date field on a form, but as you indicate it is unclear. If it is a date field on a form, it probably needs to be two separate fields IMO.

2016-05-10 07:32:06 +0200 질문에 답변하였습니다 How do I aphabetize a Row

Sorting works on rows, rather than columns. Try transposing the data first:

  1. Highlight the 107 columns.
  2. Edit > Copy.
  3. On a new sheet Edit > Paste Special....
  4. Click the Transpose button.

Result should be pasted as data in 107 rows. Now it can be sorted. The sorted data can then be transposed again to return it to columns.

Insert the field then format the inserted field:

  1. Highlight the inserted field entry (e.g., displaying "diciembre DEL 1999").
  2. Format > Character... > Font Effects tab > Effects section > select "Capitals".
  3. Click OK.

Result should display as "DICIEMBRE DEL 1999".

2016-05-07 14:19:34 +0200 질문에 답변하였습니다 paragraph numbering - how to automatically number frames / side notes / marginalias in writer?

Is there a way to assign numbers automatically for all the frames?

An auto-incrementing field can be inserted into a frame. This will increment each time the frame is copied / duplicated. I know of no method to automatically assign incrementing numbers to existing frames.

or automatically assign numbered frames to each paragraph?

Again, the frame can be manually copied to each new paragraph, however regardless of anchoring method (to paragraph, to character) the frame will not copy along with the paragraph.

I have tried list numbering in the frames and numbered headings.

Simply pressing ENTER to create a new paragraph will also not automatically insert an auto-incrementing field or frame. As you correctly indicate, such behaviour is, in essence, an ordered list.

However, the numbering breaks up if I insert a new frame in between written paragraphs with numbered frames.

Please attach or link an example to the question showing this behaviour. Thanks.

It would be good if you could upload or link to an example, as this is fairly advanced DTP in terms of layout. To that end I would recommend using LO as a proofing tool for the content and a DTP tool (e.g., Scribus) as a layout tool.

It is possibly a limitation of the HTML filter to handle multiple adjacent tags. This example produces the expected output:

<em>Apply <strong>strong then</strong> em</em>

Please raise a bug about this limitation. Post a link to any raised report back here for others to track. Thanks.

I cannot address your specific (RHEL) issue, however it would appear that with LO v5.1 the release notes indicate a raising of the glibc baseline to v2.12 for Cent OS 6. This currently appears to disagree with what is stated on the system requirements page for GNU/Linux:

glibc2 version 2.5 or higher
