2014-01-24 03:33:28 +0200 질문에 댓글을 달았습니다 More Controls Toolbar doesn't come up in Base

Further information on the above problem:

I completely uninstalled all components of LibreOffice using Synaptic Package Manager, then re-installed using Ubuntu Software Center. I still have the same problem.

BUT, for the first time since this problem started to occur, I opened LibreOffice Writer and, loand behold, the toolbar in question is there in Writer!. I tried to move the toolbar from writer to Base and that didn't work. Then I tried keeping both windows open, but when I change to Base the toolbar disappears and I can't access it. In Writer, the full tolbar that is on the left side of Base is displayed and there the More Controls button works.

My conclusion is that the system file which keeps track of these toolbars is FUBAR, but what file is it? I can probably find it and edit it if I have a clue.

Thanks.

Using LO Version: 4.1.3.2, Build ID: 410m0(Build:2), on Ubuntu 13.10 (Saucy) in Base I am unable to show the More Controls toolbar on my desktop computer. In other words, clicking on the More Controls button does nothing.

On my laptop it works perfectly. In Writer on my desktop it works perfectly. But in Base on my desktop, it's as if I didn't click the More Controls button.

I've gone through all the menus and toolbar settings and haven't found a way to turn it (back) on.

Did I miss the setting, or is this a known bug?

Is there a workaround so I can access the controls that are in that toolbar? I'm stymied with a project for a client that needs to be done yesterday.

Thanks for any help.

2013-11-18 23:05:41 +0200 질문에 답변하였습니다 How to increase LO Base timeout on MariaDB?

I have found a note to myself from last spring when apparently I used the correct search parameters to get this answer.

The answer: In a Terminal window, sudo gedit

Open: /etc/mysql/my.cnf

change: wait_timeout=xxx to wait_timeout=28000

I hope this helps someone else who want to increase the timeout of MariaDB (or MySQL).

--Jill

P.S. It would still be really nice if there were a way to reconnect easily without closing LO Base and reopening it. Is anyone working on this?

2013-11-17 02:49:29 +0200 질문하였습니다 How to increase LO Base timeout on MariaDB?

I am very appreciative of the good advice I've gotten here in the past.

I am currently connecting to MariaDB with the maximum timeout value set in Tools/Options/LibreOffice Base/Connections. org.openoffice.comp.drivers.MySQL.Driver is set to the max allowable value which is only 600 seconds = 10 minutes. This is and always will be a single-user system so there is not question of 'hogging' the connection.

I'd like to set the timeout to be much larger so that I can go to lunch without having to shut down my DB.

Alternatively, is there an easy way to reconnect after the connection has timed out without restarting the DB?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Jill

I fixed the above by switching to the JDBC connect instead of direct connect.

I have a similar problem but using Direct Connect. I cannot create Auto-Increment field with Base's Create Table in Design View. More specifically, it looks like I've set the Integer field for auto-incrementing until I save the table and reopen it for data entry or design editing. Also, after I have created a Table using Base's Design View I cannot edit the table design even if there is no data in the table. Note:I do not get a 'Connection Test' window (because I'm using Direct Connect?). I'm using Ubuntu Saucy Salamander (13.10) and MariaDB NOT Firebird. The database is on the same hard drive (in /var/lib/mysql); this is a single-user system.

I think I found the problem. Although I thought the db was registered, it was not. I manually registered it and got past the error message which was stymying me.

2013-06-28 00:55:29 +0200 질문하였습니다 Problems connecting via macro to external (MariaDB) DB in Base

I would very much appreciate some help so I can continue to make progress on my project.

I'm working in Ubuntu 13.04. I've created a DB using MariaDB and successfully connect to it and can access and create tables in it using LibreOffice BaseEXCEPT I can't figure out how to modify a table using a macro.

When I search the web I keep coming up with the following code:

Dim Context Dim DB Dim Conn Dim Stmt Dim Result Dim strSQL As String Context=CreateUnoService("com.sun.star.sdb.DatabaseContext") DB=Context.getByName("MikesTest") Conn=DB.getConnection("","")

Stmt=Conn.createStatement() strSQL="INSERT INTO _ EMPLOYEES(FIRSTNAME,MIDDLENAME,LASTNAME,AGE,SSN) _ VALUES('Hubert','','Farnsworth','164','511-11-1111')" Stmt.executeUpdate(strSQL)

Conn.close()

My problem is, I haven't been able to get past DB=Context.getByName("MikesTest")

I keep getting the error message:

BASIC runtime error. An exception occurred Type: com.sun.star.container.NoSuchElementException Message: MikesTest.

"MikesTest" is the registered name of the DB in LO. That doesn't work. Nor does a full path to the DB. Nor does just the DB name without the full path.

So what is the trick here? I'm sure it is obvious to the initiated.

Thanks for any help on the frustrating stalemate.

2013-06-07 18:33:01 +0200 질문에 답변하였습니다 How to connect LOBase to use MariaDB-created DB

After much search and research and a little luck, I figured out the answers to my questions, plus a further clue. For others who encounter these problem:

First Solved Problem, Seeing all MariaDB databases: This appears to be normal with MariaDB, when first linking to the database. When, instead, I come in by double-clicking on the Register database, I see what I want: only the current, appropriate database.

Second Solved Problem, Tables are read-only: Tables created using MariaDB and terminal window are read-only. However, tables created within Base are fully enabled.

Further hint: I was unable to open the database by double-clicking on the Registered Name in my file manager. I found that I'd created a different username in the CREATE statement in MariaDB than the one I was using for username logon in Ubuntu. ReCREATEing the username in MariaDB fixed that problem.

Now to do some real work!

2013-06-05 04:57:54 +0200 질문하였습니다 How to connect LOBase to use MariaDB-created DB

Trying to migrate a large project from MSAccess to LOBase & MariaDB.

I have created with MariaDB a small test DB which contains a single table and two records. When I try to connect to it using LOBase Connect to External DB/MySQL/External connect/Direct Connect give it DB name, User Name and PW and it appears to connect.

BUT looking at the Tables area in Base, I can see all the DBs in the folder listed as if they were tables, with the tables within them as sub-items. This includes MariaDB's DB controlDBs! I just want to see the tables for the DB I'm connecting to.

Secondly, if I open the table in my testDB, I can see the contents, but cannot add data.

I've searched Google for LOBase/MariaDB and OOBase/MySQL and all permutations and only come up with obsolete tutorials that don't work. Can someone point me to some help on this subject. I'm kind of going crazy and the client wants something to see soon!!!!

I'm running on Ubuntu 13.04/Raring Ringtail.
