Error when trying to load new base file

Error message: connection to data source could not be established sdbc:embedded:hsqldb.

LO: Collabora Office 5.3-40

Am trying to create a new database

had wrong java. need JDK 64-bit for the mac.
your java link yielded Java SE Development Kit 10.0.1, jdk-10.0.1_osx-x64_bin.dmg. is using dev kit OK?

Java 8 is “unavailable” and no longer supported. Java 9 has been “superceded.” could not find non-dev kit for java 10.

Where to get what?

2nd version of question

Hello @anvb,

This error and your question are difficult at best to answer with the information provided. You really need to indicate OS, LO version & bitness, what type of DB are you connecting to, the Java version & bitness for starters along with the entire error message.

Also your question states ... when trhying to load anew base file which is contradictory. Either you get this when creating a new file or you are loading an existing file. If the latter what type of DB are you using?

Regardless, here are a few links to review depending on the real problem:

No java or incorrect Java - on firefox and have loaded java 32

Edited 2018-05-25 to correct following link:

Existing Base file connected to Access - I got error “The connection to the data source “DB file name” could not be established.”

File from Dropbox or Google Drive - need more info

If the above doesn’t answer your question PLEASE provide MORE information!!!

If this answers your question please tick the :heavy_check_mark: (upper left area of answer). It helps others to know there was an accepted answer.

@anvb That IS the JDK → Java SE Development Kit 10 Downloads. JDK IS Java Development Kit. If you are on a Mac this is what is needed! Linux & Windows only can use non dev kit.

BTW - Java 6, 7, 8 & 9 ARE still available. You just have to know how to find them!

great. thanks
