The .exe for writer is found here:
program files> LibreOffice > swriter.exe
That opens directly into writer vs the recent documents screen.
If you close the last document you worked on, but let still run the LibreOffice desktop, you will again get the recent files thumbnails.
To avoid this generally you need to set the length of the PickList to 0 (zero).
