Whenever I open my tasks.ods file, I wonder if I am looking at the complete view or if I have some filter applied. I currently have to click on every 
and check if all boxes are checked. Is there a better way ?
Yep, there is a better way. Look at your icon with triangle, if filter is active, then in right bottom corner will be dot.
