animate character in impress

I want to animate just one character in Impress (a linguistics presentation). When I select the character (which is in a table) I’m given the option to add (by means of a green “+” sign) a Custom Animation. I choose the “Emphasis” Category, and “Blink”, but the whole table blinks, rather than the character I had selected. Is that expected behaviour?

In addition, when the Preview is done, the table remains highlighted in blue, as if it is selected. And when I go to other slides, the blue ‘selection’ artifact remains–the same size and position, overlayed on whatever is on the slide. Is this a bug or a feature? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

@knottedknickers I’ve adjusted that once. It does not seem to work for a single character. The only possibility that I see is to mark the single character and assign a different color and maybe make it a bit bigger. Maybe someone else has an idea about it. Sorry.

Appreciate you trying, ebot! I’ll see if anyone else can help. Cheers!

Delete or put a space where the blinking character goes. Create a separate text box for the blinking character. Make it match font size, color, etc., and blink, of course. Position it where it should be on the slide. You may have to extend the text box size to keep a hair line on its border from showing on other text.
