Add bookmarks automatically according to the Heading styles

Hi,

I’m using LibreOffice 4.1.4.2 Writer on Windows XP SP3. I have created a large 100-pages document. For titles I have used “Heading 1” and “Heading 2” styles.

Now I have a need to edit document in several places. I though I would create a bookmarks for every “Heading 1” and “Heading 2” titles like from menu Insert | Bookmark. But I have A LOT of titles. Is there any way to automatically add all bookmarks for “Heading 1” and “Heading 2” styles?

Thanks

I think, there is no need for individual bookmark for each heading. Headings are already predefined as reference

  • in Fields > Document > Chapter (=current heading at the position of the field)
  • in Fields > Cross-references > Headings (click-able reference)
  • target for inter-document hyperlinks in the hyperlink dialog

I don’t understand this. What are Fields?

That are those parts which you insert by menu Insert > Fields > Other… . See chapter 14 in the Writer guide https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Documentation/Publications#LibreOffice_Writer_Guide.

If I understood you correctly, you want to jump from one heading to another?

You can do that with navigator. Click on “Headings” and then the “Content view” icon to get an overview of all headings in your document.

Excellent. This is even better. I work a lot on notebook with small monitor, but now I am working on desktop with big monitor and I can afford to have a Navigator window always displayed. Thanks.
