SEH Exception

I am having a LOCalc issue. Recently many of my previously existing Calc files started failing when they open. They were saved correctly in September and upon re-opening, I either get an SEH exception violation or no message at all - the program just closes.

Any suggestions?

Are you running v5.x? It sounds like this is another OpenGL-related bug e.g., tdf#97277. Fixes are likely forthcoming as the developers are aware of this issue.

EDIT: In the meantime try turning off OpenGL as indicated in the answer here.

EDIT 2: It appears this is a more widespread Windows platform bug. While there are several bug reports for v5.x (list for “SEH” here) most are unconfirmed or need further information i.e., the problem is not easy to reproduce.

EDIT 3: According to this mailing list comment by Regina this error appears to be OpenCL / graphics card driver related. The workaround is to turn off OpenCL.

I had some luck and could update my graphic card driver to the newest version and it fixed my problems with OpenCL. (but in this case totally unrelated to SEH)

I still have this error with a Calc sheet with OpenGL off and a new user profile using 5.1.1.3 on Windows 7 64 bit. 5.0.5 works fine.

Edit to update version used: The error also occurs with 5.1.2.2. I moved back to 5.0.5 so i can get some work done.

Edit to include openCL results: I reinstalled 5.1.2.2, turned off OpenCL and my document now loads without the SEH exception. I will continue testing with 5.1.2.2. Thanks for your assistance.

Perhaps try starting LO from the command prompt using the --backtrace parameter? Related wiki page here.
