MacOs Catalina Libre Office Writer will not save files

I can edit a document and print it, but when I try to save it, nothing happens. I would guess this is some kind of permission issue, because I have similar problems with Gimp, but I have no idea how to fix this.

Hi, I experienced the same…not good…but try this out it appears to do the trick.

Set Full Disk Access for LibreOffice manually in Catalina
in System Preferences,
Click Security & Privacy,
Select Privacy,
On the right click ‘Full Disk Access’,
Click on the ‘+’ to add a new application,
select LibreOffice,
Exit for settings to take effect.

Worked perfectly. But you do have to not be using LibreOffice at the time to change permissions.

I opened and closed the program several times at the time of “hacking” at a solution in frustration. I’m glad the solution still works.

worked for me, though despite Mac saying I’d have to restart LibreOffice, I actually had to restart the OS too before it worked.

Obviously all of this is not LibreOffice’s fault. However, if it is at all possible (a) for LibreOffice to check disk access (e.g. try writing a small file to Documents) and warn you before you start creating a spreadsheet which you then can’t save, or (b) at least pop up an error box with these instructions instead of just silently failing to save or open a dialog box, that would be helpful.

Be sure to mail your spreadsheets to yourself before quitting in Catalina. They will not be saved, otherwise. This setting for Full Disk Access in System Preferences worked for me. Thank you.
