Can I use Libre to enter data into an Exel document I received by email and the send it back to them?

I can’t give you a definitive answer, but I believe that you should be able to do that, with two cautions :

1. When you have finished adding data to the spreadsheet, be sure to save it (using Save As… ) in the same format as received (probably .xls or similar); and
2. Depending on the complexity of the original document, there might be some formatting errors introduced by the conversion from Excel to Calc, and back again. Your correspondent will have to fix that.
