My professor requires his students to number each page of all written works turned into him, with one inch margins for each page.
Is there any way to insert page numbers without pushing the margin down by adding a header?
The header option is the easy one since you won’t have to manually add it to every page.
Another option though is to simply put it, manually, on every page on the position that you want it to be. Downside is that you really have to make sure that the formatting on each page is consistent.
It’s a little work but possible, though I guess using a header would be best in general.
Using the menu you can Insert → Field → Page nummer wherever you want.
When I select Insert → Field → Page number (as suggested by the official help page), the page number appears wherever the cursor is (and not on the upper right corner for example). It also appears only on the page I am currently viewing… (I use version 3.6.2.2).
