I keep having problems with LO on El Capitan. Trying to start it as a normal application by double-clicking the icon always gives me the "is damaged" warning—for both, latest 4.x and 5.x LO. If I start it from the command line, things seem to work just fine:

/Applications/LibreOffice.app/Contents/MacOS/soffice

Is that going to get fixed soon? Might be related to this one?

This works for using existing paragraph styles. Don't know (yet) how to create new paragraph styles.

As for the first question:

cursor.ParaStyleName = "Heading 1"
document.Text.insertString(cursor, "Heading Text Here", 0)
document.Text.insertControlCharacter(cursor, uno.getConstantByName("com.sun.star.text.ControlCharacter.PARAGRAPH_BREAK"), 0)
cursor.ParaStyleName = "Standard"

2013-04-12 00:14:50 +0100 Gestellte Frage Reading from Writer using Uno (and Python)

I hope somebody has an answer to this question. Given a loaded document

local = uno.getComponentContext()
resolver = local.ServiceManager.createInstanceWithContext("com.sun.star.bridge.UnoUrlResolver", local)
context = resolver.resolve("uno:socket,host=localhost,port=2002;urp;StarOffice.ComponentContext")
desktop = context.ServiceManager.createInstanceWithContext("com.sun.star.frame.Desktop", context)
document = desktop.loadComponentFromURL("file:///Users/savage/test.odt" ,"_blank", 0, ())

How do I now actually read text from the document, preferably including some of the styling information like headings, or footnotes?

Thanks!

2013-04-07 03:25:51 +0100 Gestellte Frage Writing more complex text into Writer using pyUno

I am trying to export some text from Python into a Writer document which I created according to these instructions.

For example, using

cursor.setPropertyValue("CharHeight", 20)
cursor.setPropertyValue("CharWeight", 150)
document.Text.insertString(cursor, "This Is Heading One", 0)

I can make a line of text look like a heading, but it's just text and not an actual heading. What property values do I have to modify to generate a heading line that's picked up for the TOC?

In general, where is the documentation for the properties, and how to navigate the Writer document in general? I'm having a very hard time digging up anything at all!

2013-04-01 09:09:33 +0100 Gestellte Frage How can I create books through py-uno?

When it comes to Python and UNO, then it's hard to find any information. There was a good introduction here which got me started, but it's far from what I'd like to get done.

I've looked at the API documentation of LibreOffice here but I have a hard time connecting this to the use from Python. Are the Java or C++ references useful or relatable?

What I want to do is

  1. Create a more complex document, and configure it with left/right pages; per-page margins; define the fonts for headings, text, paragraphs, etc.
  2. Next, push text into the document and annotate it as heading, normal paragraphs, then some text goes into paragraphs with their own styling, and so forth.
  3. I'd like to be able to add footnotes.
  4. I'd like to be able to generate a TOC once the text is all done.
  5. I'd like to add images on occasion into the text flow.

Any help is appreciated! It's enough if you can just point me at a site which has appropriate documentation, but if you can answer the questions directly—the better :)

Thanks!
