Writer 3.6.4.3 crashing opening .odt file

Operating system: Windows XP
LibreOffice: 3.6.4.3 (cleanly installed)

When Writer opens an .odt file from Explorer (double-clicking file on Desktop; open file with …), Writer crashes – displays a dialog with the title, “LibreOffice 3.6”, and having text beginning with "Due to an unexpected error, LibreOffice crashed.

When opening the same document from within Writer, having been opened without a document, Writer works as expected.

Having seen the question & answer for [1], resetting or deleting the user profile did NOT fix.

Opening a spreadsheet - .ods file - in any way does NOT elicit the problem.

Only happening on a single computer. Windows 7 and a different Windows XP computer are working well. OpenOffice on the same computer works well with the same file(s).

[1] LibreOffice 3.5.4 "Base" keeps crashing

I am running the same OS and LibO combination like you and have no problems. Thus, let me ask some questions:

Does the problem happen with only 1 file or with all odt-files?

I understand your thoughts and am confused too. Another Windows XP computer with LibreOffice works well; no problems.

On the affected computer, the problem arises when opening any .odt file through Windows Explorer, whether originally created by LibreOffice’s or OpenOffice’s Writer. Again if LibreOffice Writer is started directly, opening the file from within Writer does NOT exhibit the issue.

How is the open-file event handled by LibreOffice, when generated from Windows Explorer?
