Libre Math is it possible to customise the tool bar & Spell Check

Dear Friends

I have been using Writer and Math a lot in the last few days to help me construct notes; summaries of worked examples etc.

When using Math there are commands I frequently type for example “Newline”

I find typing “newline” at the end of each line really tedious.

I was wondering if it is possible to customise the tool bar with frequently used commands for example “newline” or other certain “elements” that I use a lot, to make the entering of formula or math examples/solutions easier and quicker.

I was wondering if it is possible to do a spell check the text in math. My current method is to copy the text and paste into writer and check it there for spelling errors then return the corrected text to math.

I have googled around and found no solution to my dilemma.

As a workable solution will save me a lot of time I will really appreciate your assistance with this.

Thank you for your time and trouble in advance.

AFAIK, non of your request are possible on Math. But you can easy your workflow a lot changing the way you build your Math expressions.

If you type some text on Writer using Math’s language, select it and go Insert → Object → Formula, the text will be properly converted on a Math object. So, you can do something like this:

  • Set a keyboard shortcut to insert a Math object. Let’s say Ctrl M.
  • Set “shortcuts” to your most used Math expressions by
  • An autocorrect (first tab on Tools → Autocorrect → Autocorrect options), for example nln → newline (good for short expressions)
  • An autotext (Tools → autotext) so you type the shortcut, press F3 and get the text (good for large chunks of code)

Now you can just type your Math code on Writer, having all the time access to the spellchecker, select the code and press Ctrl M to get the expression.

Thank you very much for your time and your suggestions.

I will definitely give them a try
