I have used Base to create a very simple database with only five fields in the table and a form to fill in the database. The fields are:

index:integer:PrimaryKey word:Text[VarChar] PartOfSpeech:Text[VarChar] meaning:text[VarChar] notes:memo[longVarChar]

I have saved the database without content and then opened it up again without problem. But the moment I enter data into the table, save the database, exit the programme and then start up Base, opening the database, I get the 'filter selection' dialogue, asking me what kind of file it is.

I have created the database afresh, six times and after entering data, not one of them has opened again.

I am using PCLinuxOS and LibreOffice 3.6.0.4

Any ideas what is going on

Hi Anon,

Do you have the same problem if you update to the latest release of LO?

Here's a great tutorial on getting started with Base:

If you follow those steps, do you still experience the problems you described above?
