Base won't open databases

I have used Base to create a very simple database with only five fields in the table and a form to fill in the database. The fields are:

index:integer:PrimaryKey
word:Text[VarChar]
PartOfSpeech:Text[VarChar]
meaning:text[VarChar]
notes:memo[longVarChar]

I have saved the database without content and then opened it up again without problem. But the moment I enter data into the table, save the database, exit the programme and then start up Base, opening the database, I get the ‘filter selection’ dialogue, asking me what kind of file it is.

I have created the database afresh, six times and after entering data, not one of them has opened again.

I am using PCLinuxOS and LibreOffice 3.6.0.4

Any ideas what is going on

Do you have the same problem if you update to the latest release of LO?

If you follow those steps, do you still experience the problems you described above?
