I could be more specific if I were at my computer (I’m answering with my cell phone), but as I understand your question you simply want to keep Chapter 2 numbered as Chapter 2. If that is the case, go back to where you enabled chapter numbering. You should find an option to set the starting number; use this for the new file. Hope this gives you enough help to move forward.
