Data Multiple Operations

Hi!
Hi

I would like to use Data Multiple Operations to generate repeated random samples. I have a function in cell $B$21 which is a function of two random samples (calls to rand() in other cells). I highlight cells D30:E33 and invoke Data Multiple Operations. I specify cell $B$21 as the formulae, and cell $K$1 as the column input cell. I put 1, 2, 3, and 4 in cells D30:D33.

My expectation is that this will generate different results in cells E30:E33, but it does not. This expectation is a) because that is how a one dimensional data table works in excel, and b because if I enter 1 into K1 the value does change, and if I enter 2 into K1 the value changes again, . . .

Interestingly, if I put =rand() into cell $B$21, each value in $E$30:$E$33 is different.

Can someone please explain if there is a way to do what I want, and also, the logic behind the way that data multiple operations works?

Thanks . . .

Phil

Hi @philtroy,

Sorry that we haven’t been able to provide you an Answer to your question yet. Any chance that you’ve found an answer on your own?

In my eyes, there are numerous issues in =multiple.operations(). Especially on big datasheets or complex formulas they do not give me any result. I made a ticket half a year ago, it is not even assigned yet.
