Connect Base to Access 2013 database

I just downloaded and installed LO4. I attempted to connect to one of my Access 2013 databases. However I get the error message:

The connection to the database could not be established.
The connection could not be created.
Maybe the necessary data provider is not installed.

What is the solution for this problem?

Hi @John45,

Please take a look at our existing documentation of this feature:

(Sorry that they’re so sparse – please feel free to file an enhancement request that they be improved!)

If installing the latest release didn’t seem to fix this problem (and you mention that you’re on LO4, which is our latest release!), please file a bug and provide a list of steps that can reproduce your problem. The QA team will be happy to help you track down this issue!

Please post a link to any bugs you file in a comment below using the format “fdo#123456”.

Thanks!

@John45 – Just checking-in. Have you solved your problem?

The answer is, to my knowledge, that it doesn’t work, i.e you can’t connect to an Access 2013 db because it uses a format that is not currently supported by the code within LO.

The only problem, Alex, with this Answer is that I have 2 Microsoft acess database files on a cd. One will import to Libre Base, but the other one will not and, instead, displays ans ASCII Dialog menu, none of which apply, thus stopping importation of the second Access db file. The two files are in the exact same format, yet only one will import> At one point I got the message that it is not in a acceptable database format…but then, why did the first database import? Libre has far to go here apparently. 44 guy
