I am thinking of installing your program overo Microsoft 2010, but I don’t want to have to redo or reformat old documents. Is there a problem with that and if so, how does it get overcome?
If you delete Microsoft Office and work only on LibreOffice you may have some problems with specially formatted documents (Word, Excel, Powerpoint). The web is “full” of reports about problems working on Microsoft files with LibreOffice.
You’d better install LibreOffice in addition to Microsoft Office and then get experiences in daily use. After some time you can “abolish” Microsoft Office if you don’t have any exchange to other MSO users…
There are some special formats of Word documents (forms; (“floating”) textboxes; picture framing with bitmap borders) you only can work on satisfacorily on Word itself, especially DOCX documents. DOC files can be better converted to ODF (Open Document Format), that’s Word 1997-2003 format…
So good advice only can be given in respect of your special needs.
