Bug reporting / enhancement requests - which site is better and why?

For bug reporting and enhancement request I am always using:
https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/bug/
which gives me a nice structure and helps me enclose all information needed to be reported and, at the end, provides me a link to the related bug on the bugzilla homepage

I am also seeing often hints to go to
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/

What is are the reasons for the recommendation to directly to the bugzilla homepage?

For what it’s worth: I prefer bugzilla it is more direct then BSA.

The Bug Submission Assistant (BSA) lives here:

Recently, during the release of LO 4.0, we ran into some issues updating the version #'s listed in the BSA, and users we unable to select “4.0.0.3 release” in the drop-down list. As a result, we temporarily sent users directly to the standard Bugzilla interface at freedesktop.org. Those temporary problems have been fixed, so now we’re able to send users back to the BSA.

Regarding enhancement requests, sometimes I’ll give users a link like this one:

As you can see, in that link the bug has already been marked as an enhancement, so the user doesn’t have to fill that part out (and doesn’t forget to fill it out, either)

In any case, feel free to send users to either url. In the end, all bugs end up in the same place

@qubit1
BSA - Now I understand. I did not recognize the “4.0.0.3 release” issue as I am a bit conservative and only run 3.6.5.2 release.

Enhancement
I place my enhancement request on BSA but did not dare to flag it on the related bugzilla site as “enhanement” Now I will do so.

However if the BSA could get a radio buttons for “bug” and “enhancement” it would just be an enhancement of the BSA which then should be renamed into something like “BESA”…

Hi @ROSt53, I’ve been talking a lot with the QA team about improvements to bug reporting. Making it easier for users to report a bug vs. an improvement or enhancement is definitely on the list

@qubit1: Hope my comments will help you!

The bug report interface is complex.

Which one?

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/ now I get it, https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/bug/ require js to work and I use noscript browsing the web.

@jiero – If the BSA doesn’t provide a good warning when you have NoScript enabled, please file a bug against the BSA (enhancement) and ask that it provide a suitable warning to disable NoScript.
