I recently upgraded my laptop and am running windows 10. I downloaded the latest version of LibreOffice (Version: 5.3.4.2 (x64)). Ever since I have been unable to load files such as .doc or .xls by double clicking in File Manager or from email attachments without saving them and opening using Open command inside LibreOffice. I have LibreOffice set as the default app for all the relevant file extensions. Even OpenDoc files will not open by double clicking, I still have to use the Open command. Any ideas?

Uninstall and reinstall LibreOffice.

This is question about your operating system, not LO. Doubt you'll find help here. Try forum dealing about your operating system for this particular question.
