MAKE IT POSSIBLE TO DISABLE AUTOMATIC, FORCED DATE RECOGNITION

Hello there,

I ask you again and again to make an option for which is mentioned in the topic!

Imagine the following: I need to fill in a very long table with numbers in its column. They are:

18.65

123.54

6.05

98.45

etc.

Then imagine me, a LibO user, who is looking with his eyes only on a paper sheet containing the numbers and who is blindly typing the numbers with his right hand and using the right (number) keyboard only. I’m typing:

1 8 dot 6 5 enter 1 2 3 dot 5 4 enter 6 dot 0 5 enter 9 8 dot 4 5 enter etc.

Then I look at what I’ve just typed and what I see?

18.65

123.54

06/05/17

98.45

WHY THE F**K has my 6.05 become a DATE??? HAVE I mf-asked you to make it a date?
I do understand that you TRANSLATED my string ‘18.65’ to a number 18.65, but I DON’T want any date to appear on my spreadsheet unless I DELIBERATELY ask your Calc to convert my string ‘6.05.17’ to the date of May 6th, 2017!

So at last what I want, demand, necessitate, require, claim, insist! - whatever: PLEASE MAKE AN OPTION FOR THE IMPLICIT CONVERSION TO A DATE VALUE!!! Or at least give me a choice whether to convert #.## to a date or not!

Consider this: if any mf-user does want his ‘6.05’ converted to a date, he’ll type in ‘6.5.17’ - and let this string (and NOT ‘6.05’ or even ‘6.5’!!!) become a date!

I don’t know where else to apply with this request, so please answer anything to me here!!!
(I’m sorry for my English. It’s not my native tongue)

Have you taken a look on Menu/Tools/Options/LibreOffice/Language settings/Language - Date acceptance patterns.

I thank you very much for your answer! This is the only right solution that can exist to this problem. Unfortunately my googling didn’t come on it despite all my efforts )))

If the answer solves your question please tick the :heavy_check_mark:.
