I have a 4k laptop and when I use this software the pointer is off in the sense that I have to point lower than the icon, table or whatever I am trying to select in order to select it. The scaling is off in the application in general and even after lowering the resolution on my laptop it did not affect the software. I have a windows 10 platform.

I have exactly the same problem!!
quick fix: Tools->Options->View->uncheck “Use OpenGL for all rendering”
This quickfix works for version 5.4.3.2 on Win10 (Dell XPS15, 3840x2160). Only caveat is that you cannot not see “tools” ( the menu bar is hidden in outer space). Workaround: in the Writer click in the area of the red “clone formatting brush”. Since the pointer is way off reality it worked for me. Fixing the writer also will repair the draw module. I did not try with a low screen resolution and setting the fonts back to 100%, but it should work. I have the same problems with other old software
