Problem pasting from clipboard into LO Write

Running LO 5.1.62 on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.
I use the program “shutter” to capture and edit a screenshot. Next I save the screenshot to the clipboard, then try to paste it into an LO Writer document. That returns an error “requested clipboard format is not available.”

Does anyone have any ideas on what might be going on?

Can the clipboard contents be pasted into an image processing program like GIMP, Pinta, XnViewMP, Inkscape or other? If yes, you could copy it from there which is not satisfactory… If no, shutter or clipboard are blocked by…?

The Writer CUT / PASTE is for moving text. You need to save your screenshot as a named image and then import the image into the writer document.

edstevensdba’s proceeding is okay and you can do that using gnome-screenshot or other screenshot processing apps. Copy to clipboard and paste into Writer or Calc etc. There is no limitation on “moving text” only.
The question is why does shutter not act like the other screenshot programs?

@Grantler – exactly, the question is why shutter is no acting like other screenshot pgms. And as the OP mentioned in the linked discussion from the Ubuntu forums, I need more than just a screenshot, but also the ability to edit it with a variety of tools that shutter provides. I had also posted this problem on the Ubuntu forums, but after making little headway there, though I’d approach it from the LO end, wondering if there might be a known issue with pasting into LO directly from shutter.
