I have pasted a table into Writer, selected it, but when I go to Table → Convert, both choices are grayed out. So are other tools in the Table menu.
What was the source of the table (application /format)?
Try pasting as unformatted text, you won’t need any conversion.

For some reason, my document which was in Microsoft Word, opened as Libre Spreadsheet (I wanted it to open in Libre.)
