I have a current generation laptop with Intel/NVIDIA switchable graphics that I connect to external monitor via HDMI.
By default OpenGL was not enabled. I tried enabling disabling all options - hardware acceleration, OpenGL. With OpenGL enabled everything is too slow but renders correctly. With OpenGL disabled the UI flickers and is faster but still slow. At least the document scrolls at a normal speed.
I installed the latest LibreOffice, drivers, etc.
