Low speed with big-tables compared to MS Excel

I have quite a big table. There is a lot of text i each cell. I observed that resizing the column or row with the mouse is extrem slow. Also maximizing the window back from minimized state is slow and give a black window for some seconds.

Using the same table with MS Excel 2016 cause no problems. The handling is fluent there.

I can observer the behaviour on Win10 with a quite Lenovo Yoga Laptop (Intel 4405U, 8GB RAM) and Debian GNU/LInux unstable on a desktop PC (2-core Intel-CPU with 8GB RAM). Of course on Debian I wasn’t able to test Excel.

Can you observe this behaviour, too. Are you aware of an open Issue/Bug report about that problem? I couldn’t find one.

As an example I used the first paragraph of Lorem ipsum as content for each cell of a AF (columns) to 22 (rows) table.

Using a older AMD desktop with 4GB memory on Mint 18.2 & LO v5.4.1.2, I filled A-AZ for 22 rows with the sample first paragraph. Had no issues with speed resizing anything or min/max of window creating display issues. I would suggest you check if OpenGL is on & if so turn it off to see if that helps - from menu Tools->Options then under LibreOffice->View uncheck Use OpenGL for all rendering.
