Sum of cells that contain math formula

A cells contains a math formula, meaning it contains

=234+3456-456

the value in that cell is displayed correctly (ie. 3234)

When I include this cell in a SUM range, its value is completely ignored as if it is not part of the range (or value = 0). If I manually input that cell value as 3234, then the SUM function is correct. The thing is I need the cell to show the calculation as separate numbers but use the final value in the SUM function. It works just like that in both Excel and Google Sheets, why not LO?

Any advice?

Cannot reproduce. I entered the formula and used it in a SUM range, and the value was summed as 3234. Please provide a complete example, starting from an empty sheet.

So I created a new document and it simply works as it should.

I’m guessing something went wrong in the initial document because it was first created on google sheets and then downloaded as ods file. Something went wrong in the conversion I guess.

So what I ended up doing was to re-enter the math calculations for each of the cells and the SUMs automatically were corrected.

This looks very strange. It would be great to have a test sample to see if that’s some import problem in LO.
