I would like to only protect the data cells in a spreadsheet

  • Select all the cells (Ctrl+Shift+Space Bar).
  • Choose menu Format - Cells… (the same that Ctrl+F1), Cell Protection tab, uncheck Protected, OK.
  • Select the data cells.
  • Choose menu Format - Cells…, Cell Protection tab, check Protected, OK.
  • Choose menu Tools - Protect Sheet, select (or not) a password, OK.

Tested with LibreOffice (x86); OS: Windows 6.1.
