How do I name a single cell in Calc?

Not a range of cells. Just a single cell.

Could someone please confirm these four steps?

  1. Click cell.
  2. Click Name Box.
  3. Replace Name Box content with desired cell name.
  4. Press Enter

That seems to work, but I haven’t been able to find simple instructions online, so I’m suspicious.

Thank you,
Mark

You are doing that right. Your named range consists of a single cell. And you may continue managing it using Sheet-Named Ranges and Expressions-Manage (Ctrl+F3).

A belated thanks, Mike!
